John Bergese has been intrigued with water ever since he can remember. He grew up in Tehran, Iran, where he was exposed to the preciousness of water through the city’s conservation measures. He moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, to pursue a degree in civil engineering at Dalhousie University, followed by a master’s degree at the Centre for Water Resources Studies. During this time he travelled to First Nation communities throughout Atlantic Canada.
John then moved to Vancouver, to work as a project engineer with RES’EAU-WaterNET, where he led collaborative research projects in partnership with small and rural communities, government agencies and industry partners. Currently, he works at David Nairne + Associates Ltd. where he continues to work with First Nation Communities, providing consulting services focused on water, wastewater and civil challenges.
John has been involved with BCWWA and his local CWRA chapter, where he organized educational and social events to bring people together to share their water stories. He has a passion for nature and any activity that provides him with a chance to be in the wilderness. He also enjoys gastronomy, astronomy and rhymes.
