Dr. Hazem Gheith has 32 years of experience in hydrologic and hydraulics modeling of urban drainage. He specializes in planning mitigation programs for street flooding, basement backups and sanitary overflows.
Dr. Gheith has presented and authored several technical research papers on advancing the collection systems planning activities. He developed an innovative Model at the Source approach to improve collection systems flow computation starting at the house level. The Model at the Source approach integrates stormwater and wastewater systems to provide high flow prediction accuracy. The approach accounts for the interchange between the surface, groundwater and both collections systems flow routing mechanisms. The approach facilitates the development of integrated plan solutions like I/I mitigation and green infrastructure programs.
