Overview: In 2023, Water Canada hosted the 14th Water Canada Summit in Ottawa. In partnership with CWWA Window on Ottawa began on June 7 with a reception at the River House, a revitalization project of the National Capital Commission (NCC) and Ottawa Riverkeeper.
June 8th was packed with panels, keynotes, deep dives and informative sessions. On the same day, we celebrated the amazing People, Projects, and Technology in Canada’s Water industry at the Water Canada Awards!
June 9th continued with sessions covering everything about water in Canada, delivered by the sector’s top experts, policy-makers, and future innovators. At the same time, students and early career professionals had a chance to connect with industry experts at Downstream events to explore different career paths!

13th Canadian Water Summit:

Overview: In 2022, Water Canada hosted the 13th Canadian Water Summit in Niagara Falls. In partnership with ESAA, CWA began on June 1st with a reception at the Table Rock Restaurant. On June 2nd we celebrated innovative People and Projects at the Water’s Next Awards and ended the Summit with the first-ever Downstream Early Career Professional Speed Networking Event!
12th Annual Canadian Water Summit:
Opening Windows on Water Across Canada
June 8-10, 2021 | Virtual Summit
Overview: In 2021, Water Canada hosted the virtual Canadian Water Summit. The event was held over three days in collaboration with the Canadian Water and Wastewater Association’s (CWWA) Window on Ottawa.
Held through WHOVA, the event brought together 250+ water “nerds” to discuss a variety of current topics relevant to the Canadian water industry. Some of the topics included: developing the Canada Water Agency, emerging contaminants in wastewater, prioritizing drinking water projects, and where technology meets stormwater. During the event, Water Canada also hosted the 2021 Water’s Next Awards.

Overview: Water Canada presented the first-ever digital edition of the Canadian Water Summit, in collaboration with the Canadian Water and Wastewater Association’s (CWWA) Window on Ottawa, on June 11, 2020.
Hundreds of people from across Canada and around the world joined us for two thoughtful discussions on key industry issues. The discussions were followed by the presentation of the 2020 Water’s Next Awards.
10th Annual Canadian Water Summit:
Partnering to Innovate in the Blue Economy

Overview: The 10th anniversary CWS program explored “Partnering to Innovate in the Blue Economy.” We began on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 29 with a cross-association industry collaboration session and wrapped up after the Women in Water brunch on Friday, May 31.
Water Week at Blue offered a bundle of two programs CWS and the Canadian Water Resources Association national conference. Two of the nation’s premier water events delivered leading expert keynote speakers, conference sessions, technical workshops, industry awards, and many networking opportunities.
9th Annual Canadian Water Summit: Knowledge to Practice - Applying science, policy, and research to the blue economy

Overview: The Canadian Water Summit attracts professionals from water industry groups across all orders of government, manufacturing, industry associations, cleantech, local communities, academia, and NGOs. Since 2009, CWS has grown into Canada’s largest and most diverse annual gathering of business, government, academic, and non-profit water leaders, attracting 300+ attendees each June.
8th Annual Canadian Water Summit: Collaboration to Action - Leadership and Investment in Canada's Blue Economy

Overview: Bringing together over 240 leaders from government, energy, finance, cleantech, academia, conservation, agri-food, and beverage, as well as Indigenous Canadians, CWS 2017 facilitated conversations about how organizations of varied interests can work together to improve water management.
7th Annual Canadian Water Summit: The Business of Water - Innovation Across the Entire Life Cycle

Overview: With a focus on the “Business of Water Across the Entire Lifecycle of Water Use,” the 2016 Canadian Water Summit hosted close to 230 business, clean-tech, government, and non-government leaders. The 7th annual event engaged “non-traditional” actors to advance discussions around innovation, leadership, and water resilience; including craft brew masters, airport managers, corporate aboriginal executives, and venture capitalists.
